SeaKlear Phosphate Remover
Uses and Benefits of SeaKlear® Phosphate Remover

The Problem Exposed
For decades, phosphate control has been used to manage algae growth in ponds, lakes and rivers. Long known as the primary culprit in cases of excessive and resistant algae blooms in ponds and lakes, orthophosphate has now been identified as a source of algae problems in pools as well. Algae control is made easier by lowering orthophosphate levels in pools.

SeaKlear Phosphate Remover Technology
SeaKlear Phosphate Remover is an easy-to-use technology for clean and efficient phosphate removal. SeaKlear Phosphate Remover is a concentrated formula: 32 ounces removes 1,000 parts per billion (ppb) of orthophosphate from 20,000 gallons of water.

Advantages of Phosphate Remover
• Quick, easy-to-use, and cost-effective
• No messy mixing
• No need to shut down the pool
• Beneficial in pools with salt generators
• Does not affect alkalinity or create potential for pool scaling with excess
   carbonate

A Simple Three-Step System
Step 1: With an approved phosphate test kit, check your orthophosphate levels.
Step 2: Pour the appropriate dosage of SeaKlear Phosphate Remover into the pool (see the back of the bottle for dosage chart).
Step 3: Add two SeaKlear Natural Clarifier Tablets for Pools (included) to the skimmer and let the filter run for 24 hours. Vacuuming is not necessary as the phosphate is carried to the filter quickly. And filter grids do not need to be removed as with older phosphate-removal technologies. The SeaKlear Natural Clarifier Tablets continue to clarify the water and keep it free from oils and excess metals. Use SeaKlear Natural Clarifier once a week for beautiful, clean water!

Very Low Phosphate Readings
What should be done when the phosphate test gives a very low or zero reading? Pools with excessive algae can register a very low or zero reading on the phosphate test.

When algae are heavy but the phosphate test registers a low reading, kill the existing algae using chlorine or an approved algaecide such as SeaKlear Algae Prevention & Remover. Once algae have been killed and removed, retest for phosphates and use SeaKlear Phosphate Remover as needed.

SeaKlear Phosphate Remover is not an algaecide and will not kill algae. Treat existing algae in swimming pools with SeaKlear Algae Prevention & Remover.

SeaKlear Phosphate Remover FAQs
Where do phosphates come from?
Phosphates come from a number of sources such as fertilizers, chemicals and detergents. Phosphates in swimming pools can come primarily from chemicals such as metal stain prevention products and tile cleaners. They can also be present in source water.

How does SeaKlear Phosphate Remover remove the phosphate?
SeaKlear Phosphate Remover has an ionic reaction with phosphate in the water. The SeaKlear Phosphate Remover molecule combines with the phosphate to form an inert floc, which can be removed to the filter.

Is there a way to test for phosphates?
Yes, there are several kits available for testing. Check with your professional pool dealer.

At what level of phosphates do algae become a threat?
Phosphates are measured in parts per billion (ppb). The ideal range to ensure clean, clear, algae-free water is 125 ppb. Resistant algae can be a problem when phosphate levels are over 500 ppb. Pools that use a salt generator should keep phosphate levels below 200 ppb.

Can SeaKlear Phosphate Remover be used as a maintenance product?
SeaKlear Phosphate Remover is a great product for removing high levels of phosphate from swimming pool water. It can also be used as a maintenance product by adding 1 ounce per 5,000 gallons once per week.

Can SeaKlear Phosphate Remover be used with Baquacil and other alternatives?
SeaKlear Phosphate Remover is compatible with all systems.

Why does the water get cloudy when using SeaKlear Phosphate Remover?
SeaKlear Phosphate Remover is designed to pull phosphates out of solution from the water. It forms a floc that will be caught up into the filter.
The two SeaKlear Natural Clarifier Tablets that are included help clear this flocked material more rapidly.

How long will it take for the cloudiness to clear?
Normal clouding of the water is cleared within 24 hours. Very excessive cloudiness indicates extreme levels of phosphate and can take two to three days to clear. In cases of excessive phosphate removal, filters should be checked daily and backwashed if needed.
